About sweets
The tradition behind the sweet
Chikki is a brittle made by cooking jaggery or sugar to a hard-crack syrup and folding in roasted peanuts or sesame (till), then pressing it flat and cutting it into bars. Till sweet balls use the same idea, rolled into bite-size rounds.
These sweets are especially associated with the cold months, when roasted peanuts and sesame are a favourite street snack — but they are enjoyed all year with a cup of chai.
