About pickles
The tradition behind the pickle
Achar is one of the oldest ways of preserving the harvest in South Asia: fruit and vegetables are cut, salted, dried in the sun, then cured in mustard or vegetable oil with fennel, fenugreek, nigella, mustard seed and red chilli. Time does the rest, softening the pieces and blending the spices.
Our three hero pickles cover the classic styles — robust, mixed-spice Hyderabadi; fruity raw mango; and the all-rounder mixed vegetable. Nine more varieties, from kasondi to lemon, complete the range for retailers who want a full pickle shelf.
